NORTHUMBERLAND — The North Shore Railroad Company is working to develop a site along Route 11 just east of Northumberland for a customer who will bring 10 to 15 new full-time jobs to the area.

The former PennDOT rest area was purchased in 2019 by North Shore, who is now working with LIVIC Civil Engineering to develop the site. More news about this new customer and site will be shared in 2021, the company said.

LIVIC Civil – Now Guiding for 3 Years

Screen Shot 2020-11-12 at 8.23.32 AM.png

Three years ago on a crisp October morning, LIVIC Civil was officially incorporated, setting off a chain reaction no one could have anticipated. Weeks of ideas and planning turned into one life-changing leap of faith for co-founding engineers Andrew Barton and Justin Ross.

“My personal goal in creating LIVIC was to assure that a small group of very talented and experienced professionals would have an opportunity to continue working together, a group that would be able to do more together rather than fracturing and competing against one another across the region. What has resulted is a testament to everyone here, our many industry partners and consultants who share our Guide philosophy,” Ross said.

Fast forward to this October morning in central Pennsylvania, when Ross and Barton celebrate the business they began, surrounded by their team of nearly 20 employees.  A team which has flourished assisting clients throughout the region and all across Pennsylvania on project related to commercial land development, municipal engineering, traffic/transportation engineering and GIS.

“The opportunities are as big as we can dream. And sometimes bigger…looking back at these last three years. We are good at engineering, but I’m more proud of the selflessness that I see daily; a willingness to make things better than they were before and to take the time to share knowledge and teach others. We now call it being a Guide, “ Barton said.

In life, you hire a guide when you want to rely on someone with experience to put you in a position to be successful. For this same reason, our clients recognize LIVIC as go to guides in the civil engineering and development industries.  But why…?

A guide is an expert, who has consistently and successfully completed similar journeys. A guide knows the requirements, influencers, and the challenges in order to deliver results. A successful guide will set expectations, learn from experience, be responsive, and build networks and relationships for future success.

LIVIC is thorough, some may even say picky, when hiring for their team. They avoid those who take the easy way out, who don't handle constructive criticism well, who can't work with a team, or those with mediocre attitudes. They seek out motivated, passionate people who pursue adventures and thrive on challenges.  But most importantly it’s about learning and educating.  A great guide should teach you how and why and be an advisor.  Our employees strive to be teachers, good listeners, and problem solvers.

“It's cliché for so many to give business advice and say your people are what makes a business great. But looking back on these three years this morning, I’m humbled to have this group on our side every day.” Ross said.

LIVIC Civil, with offices in Selinsgrove and Bloomsburg, Pa., offers site/civil engineering, land development, traffic, transportation, and municipal engineering services. Contact LIVIC Civil at liviccivil.com or (888) 987-1993 for Guide advice before starting your project!

Founded in 2011, BrightFarms provides a sustainable solution to fresh, local produce with greenhouses in Rochelle, IL, Culpeper County, VA, Bucks County, PA and Wilmington, DE. LIVIC Opens 2nd Office in Bloomsburg

We’re very excited to announce that LIVIC has opened its second location in Bloomsburg, PA. We expanded our workforce so quickly over the last 15 months that we ran out of room in our Selinsgrove office, which meant it was time to branch out. We do a lot of work in and around the Bloomsburg area with organizations like Bloomsburg University, the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds, the Town of Bloomsburg and Mahoning and North Center Townships, so it was only natural for us to set up shop here. Stop in and say hi if you’re in the area, and stay tuned for open house dates!

We're hiring!

This job is NOT for you if:

  • You are mediocre, lazy or uninspiring

  • You embrace corporate hierarchy

  • You love being undervalued

  • You take the easy way out

  • You spell team with an “I”… or “ME”

  • You handle constructive criticism poorly

  • You communicate like a rock and/or stump

On the other hand, if you’ve got so much skill it’s falling out of your pockets and would rather become an all-star in a small, dynamic and ambitious team, your world is about to change. And change is inspiring and rewarding, so don’t let it hold you back!

Here at LIVIC Civil, we have cool people, cool projects, cool clients, and a cool opportunity waiting for you. Each project is an adventure, and we are looking for another trustworthy adventure seeker. Some of us have beards, but no one is all that scary. We like to work hard and get better each day. No one is babysitting you here, so you'd better not fall apart under a little pressure.

If you can use AutoCAD or learn it in a jiffy, we’re ready to offer you more than a full-time job. Our profession calls this role “entry-level,” but that’s irrelevant to us if you’re willing to learn. Indulge that voice in your head that craves something more. Your future in civil engineering awaits!

Project management software

IMG_2383.png

If you were hiring LIVIC to design a project over several months, wouldn't you want easy access to the latest updates? We thought so. That's why we offer the convenience of a great project management software with all of our jobs.

So what's the point of this software?

Well, it does a lot for our team and our clients.

At the most basic level, we use it to monitor dates for projects, major milestones like submission deadlines and meeting dates. But we also track smaller tasks, things that tend to slip through the cracks.

We are committed to taking care of every detail for our clients and want you to know what’s happening every step of the way. To make that happen, we can customize your experience with this software based on the amount of communication you want by setting up custom notifications, assigning tasks to specific people, sharing comments, and linking to documents.

Gone are the days where you have to wonder about the status of things like:

  • Was the application sent to the landowner for signature?
  • Did my civil engineering team coordinate plan recording requirements with the courthouse?
  • What the heck is going on with the coordination of the various utilities in our project?

And it gets even better. Seriously.

Each project can be shared with any number of people, so you get up-to-the-minute, real-time tracking that can be accessed anywhere at any time. You're along with us at every step of the way to better forecast the delivery and outcome of your project. And, you can ask questions and add notes from within the software to keep everyone on the same page.

Complex permitting and fast-paced projects are a challenge even when everything goes right, so let us handle the details for your next project to help keep things on track. Now you’ll be able to see how we’re making things happen for you every step of the way!
